Bluesky Social, goodbye to YouTube stories, new TikTok’s AI chatbot, and more

TikTok's retweet button

This week we have a detailed look at Bluesky, which may or may not be a Twitter competitor. Meanwhile, YouTube is killing Stories, TikTok is dabbling in the AI space, and Twitter is adding something useful.

Let’s dive in.

1. An in depth look at Bluesky

Bluesky is attempting to decentralize social media. They believe it should operate much like a text message or email, and remove the central authority that governs existing platforms.

It’s an interesting premise. Take a look at Bluesky and get an invite code.

2. YouTube is killing Stories

From Mashable:

On June 26, YouTube will officially sunset its YouTube Stories feature. Beginning on that Monday, users will no longer be able to create YouTube Stories. Any story created before that date will expire as normal, 7 days after the story was created, meaning there will no longer be any YouTube Stories viewable starting the following Monday, July 3.

3. A tiny Twitter update that could prove useful

Lists are a great way to make the chaotic and broad world of Twitter smaller. Now they’ve added a way to search for them.

4. TikTok is dabbling with an AI chatbot

It seems like this is going to be a way to enhance searches and make TikTok content even easier to navigate.

From TikTok:

“We’re in the early stages of exploring chatbot tools with a limited test of Tako with select users in the Philippines. Tako is powered by a third-party chat assistant and is designed to help make it easier to discover entertaining and inspiring content on TikTok. No current plans for this beyond these early tests, but we’re excited to hear your feedback!”

5. YouTube made community posts available to everyone

From SMT:

YouTube’s expanding access to its Community Posts feature, allowing all creators to activate the option, providing another means to interact with your YouTube audience.
