Hootie and The Blowfish COLUMBIA, SCPop / Rock
Two-time Grammy award-winning Hootie & The Blowfish have toured for over 20 years and sold over 25 million records, but when they commence their tour in 2008 the band has another objective in mind to gather school supplies.

Since 2003, when the band learned about budget cuts taking place in education in their home state of South Carolina, Hootie & The Blowfish established an annual concert in Charleston as a way to help raise awareness to the needs of local school children in the community. The night of the concert, ticket holders were asked to bring school supplies to the concert held at Family Circle Magazine Stadium. The response was so overwhelming that a 55 seat school bus was filled from top to bottom with school supplies which were distributed to the schools and teachers in the Charleston County School District children who were in most need.

"Children are our best resource and our most hopeful investment," says Rucker. "With proper tools, our children can receive a well-rounded and meaningful education." In honor of the anniversary, Hootie & the Blowfish have expanded the tour to include a total of 25 stops, kicking-off at Gruene Hall, New Braunfels, TX on June 27, 2008 and ending the tour where it all began, at the Family Circle Stadium in Charleston, SC on August 15th.
