What is trueAnthem?

"Connecting the Band to the Fan with a Brand" is our slogan, and it means that trueAnthem is an advertising supported, online music promotion and distribution company. We believe that artists should get paid for what they have created; that fans want music for free; and that the best way to reach a targeted audience for an advertiser is through music.

As a BAND -Why should I sign up with trueAnthem?

Kids download music for free...PERIOD. Therefore, record sales are dying and artists are not getting paid. It is a proven fact, that downloading music on the Internet is the easiest and most popular way of acquiring music, and will be the only way of acquiring music in the near future. Because of the climate of record sales, artists signing away so many rights in “360 deals”, and lack of artist development at record labels, independent artists finally have an alternative with trueAnthem. trueAnthem provides the solution by giving artists everything they need: large distribution capability, unlimited promotion potential, and profitability while allowing them to retain full ownership and control over the rights to their music. Furthermore, we always try to pair an appropriate Brand with each of our Bands. This creates a synergy for the Band the Brand and the Fan resulting in increased exposure, income and autonomy for the Band.

How does the BAND get paid?

Many artists have a huge online following with no ability to fully capitalize and financially benefit on their popularity without giving away the rights to their music. At trueAnthem the Band receives between $.10 and $.40 for each downloaded track.

When will the BAND get paid?

Based on your contract, payments will be made every 60 or 90 days from the date of your launch. You are responsible for paying out royalties if your songs are in conjunction with another artist.

What does trueAnthem ask of the artist?

When an artist agrees to work with trueAnthem, they are required to sign the a short Contract and to fill out a short questionnaire. Once the contract is signed and questionnaire returned, it will allow trueAnthem to officially search for an appropriate advertiser match. The artist will be consulted once an advertiser is interested, and the artist will have final approval of advertiser matching. The contract between the Artist/Band and trueAnthem is exclusive, and is usually 12 months in length. During the term of the contract we ask that the artist does not enter into contracts with the content we are promoting on our platform.

What is the deal with the widget?

Every teen and young adult is very familiar with Widgets. Widgets are all over the social networking sites. They can be used to sell band’s merchandise, tickets, YouTube videos, or just be promotional with pictures and bio’s for artists. trueAnthem has developed an online promotion and distribution trueWidget that travels virally within social networks like MySpace and Facebook. Each artist on trueAnthem has his or her OWN unique trueWidget with a cool design. The trueWidget has all the artists approved songs available for stream, FREE ad supported download or for purchase. The trueAnthem widget has a built in self promotion mechanism through it’s ability for fans to post artists’ music to any location on the internet, including their own social networking page- resulting in greater exposure and new fans.

How does the technology really work?

As your online “friends” and fans “Grab” your trueWidget and post it on their Social Networking sites viral promotion will occur. The idea is to get your fans to promote your music, and since it’s FREE, more and more people will view it, stream it, download it, and send it to their friends. For example: You have a core fan base of 2,000 email addresses and 10,000 friends on MySpace. You upload your music and now your widget is full of ad supported music, with cool promotional photos at the top. You send out the widget in an email to your fans, you post it on your MySpace page, and you encourage your fans to grab it and post it to their sites. Then the sharing begins: Your fans check out the music, some listen, some download for free, some buy…and some GRAB the widget full of music and post it to their MySpace, Facebook site, put it in an email, etc…At this point, fans are promoting your music to a new audience (their friends). Their friends will listen, download the music for free, and some will buy. REPEAT…This will spread indefinitely as we tap into social circles and make it compelling and cool.

How does the Ad portion work?

Only the free, ad-supported downloads contains a “trueAd”. trueAds are recorded by the artist, which engages the fan in a fun way. There are 3 parts to a trueAd, first the artist announces their name or the name of their band; then they announce the title of the song; and finally they state the name of the brand. Each trueAd is about eight seconds long and is recorded at the beginning of the track.

Once I’ve recorded the trueAds, how should I send the music in?

Once trueAnthem has your contract, you will be assigned a Product Manager who will walk you through all of the items needed. Your Product Manager will give you a complete list but basically trueAnthem will want the tracks (in MP3 format) both with and without the ad’s, some promotional photos and or videos, and a 1 page bio for your webpage on the trueAnthem site.
